Osun Arts - african dance, drama, music, visual arts, story telling and music in UK and Europe schools

This show will be available national and internationally from September 2008. It is also Osun Arts Foundation's contribution to Liverpool's European Capital of Culture Celebrations in the UK in 2008.

Workshops

Our school projects are tailored to the exact needs of the schools and community centres involved/with the aim to:

	Develop the creative instinct, self-confidence and self esteem of children and young people from varying backgrounds.
	Provide a broader educational experience for pupils as well as teachers.
	Enable children and young people to understand and respect other cultures.
	Use its Creation Myths to expand and enhance participating schools' Religious Education, History and Geography programmes.

Our workshop: 'Legend, Myths and Meanings' is supporting the Department of Education and Skills scheme: Every Child Matters. Their five main aims for each child is to give them the necessary support to:

- Be healthy
The workshop supports their physical, mental and emotional health through the different activities such as dance, drama and story telling.

-Stay safe
The workshop helps them to integrate and to prevent antisocial behaviour. Further more it tackles issues such as bullying and discrimination, helping to prevent it through gained knowledge and better understanding.

- Enjoy & achieve
The workshop brings a different and exciting activity to the schools usual curriculum. The pupils will feel the pride of their achievement through the handmade masks, tie-dyes as well as the final performance. The workshop also strongly encourages their personal and social development through the activities and the team work.


- Make a positive contribution
The workshop helps to develop their self confidence and gives them a better understanding of a different culture, preventing discrimination and bullying and helping them to be a good role model.


- Achieve economic well-being
The workshop can help the pupils to find their interests and talents, as well as developing new skills.
