Igbekun is a drama/ dance piece in the Yoruba tradition featuring live theatre, dynamic dances, powerful drumming and elaborate costumes. Synopsis A once peaceful and fiercely plundered into agony by accepted visitors, who then inflicted their own sons on the people. Though under siege the people remembered their lost peace and loved ones in holy matrimony

Theme Background

The tour can also be accompanied by an educational outreach programme for schools and community groups. During the week commencing at the local schools to run workshops, in close collaboration with the art teacher/co-ordinator. All our performers have a broad knowledge of the traditional and contemporary artistic skills and history of their respective cultures and their impact on the cultural heritage within Britain. Pupils will have the opportunity to work along side artists to broaden their experience and develop their their knowledge of African crafts traditions and culture, with the chance to take part in and benefit from the following activities: Visual Arts, Drama, Dance & Music.
